Mothers & Daughters

Mothers and Daughters is a project about women who have lost their mother at an early age.
This photo series honors the relationship between mothers and daughters and visualizes
the deep bond that connects us (and always will).

I am portraying women in clothes of their deceased mother.
Because of my own history I become the subject myself, at some point.
Not only do these garments build a visual, but also a physical connection,
a shared body, between mother and daughter. Literary fragments build a supplement to the portraits.
Shreds of memories, thoughts and dreams are contributed by the protagonists.

A potpourri of shared experiences sprouts. This might not bring our mothers back,
but it brought us together, exchanging and sharing so many similar thoughts and feelings.
